Lake Michigan Beach
Fishing
For those without a boat, an accessible fishing pier
is available along the channel walkway. An
additional fishing pier is available at Snug Harbor.
Picnic Area - Picnic tables and fire pits/grills
For day users, the Lake Michigan beach is great for
sun bathing and swimming. A bathhouse is located in
the beach area. The Snug Harbor picnic area is
located on Muskegon Lake. The Blockhouse Overlook
provides a scenic view of Lake Michigan and the
dunes.

Alcohol Restrictions Apply
Alcohol is prohibited in the entire park from April
15 to Labor Day except for the campground, where
alcohol is prohibited from April 15 to June 15.
Hiking
Twelve miles of marked hiking trails can be found in
the park. The trails are a diverse series of loops
that meander through a variety of landscapes, from
flatland to bog; from lowland to the top of scenic
sand dunes.
Boating Access Site/Launch - Access for boating
and fishing.
For boating and fishing enthusiasts, Muskegon State
Park offers excellent facilities. A lighted boat
launch is located at Snug Harbor, where trailered
boats of all sizes can be launched 24 hours a day.
Also available is a fish cleaning station during the
warm months located near the launch.
Cross Country Ski
Twelve Miles of marked hiking trails, with five
miles lighted for cross country skiing, can be found
in the park. The trails are a diverse series of
loops that meander through a variety of landscapes,
from flat land to bog; from low land to the top of
scenic sand dunes.
Metal Detecting Areas
Metal detecting is recognized as a legitimate
recreation activity when it is conducted in ways
that do not damage the natural and cultural
resources in Michigan State Parks nor violate
applicable state statues. If you wish to use a metal
