Park Information: Sites
available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations.
There are 24 sites for tent and small trailer use located on Mio Dam along the
Au Sable River. Good fishing and canoeing with access to the Au Sable River and
a canoe group camp area at the grounds. Rustic campground includes vault toilets
and potable water from well hand pump.
- Designated Watchable Wildlife Site
Au Sable River offers a good chance of seeing bald eagles all seasons, deer and
wild turkey are plentiful, excellent fishing. Jack Pine Wildlife Viewing Tour
(3 miles SE) is a 48-mile auto loop featuring the unique jack pine ecosystem
and endangered Kirtland's warbler. Also bald eagle, loon, trout, beaver, grouse,
wild turkey, and other wildlife.

Mio Dam Pond (on site): Trout, Walleye, Pike, Bass. Au Sable River (10 miles South): Brown/Brook/Rainbow Trout. Muskrat Lake (12 miles NW): Pike, Bass, Panfish.
- Canoeing
This campground is accessible by water from the Au Sable River.
Canoe group camping area available. Nearest canoe rental in Mio
(3 mi SE).
- Boating Access Site/Launch - Access for boating and fishing.
- Other
Bull Gap Trail (3 miles SE): 80 miles of cycle/ATV trail. Mio Trail (12 miles NW): Direct trail head access from campground to 25 miles of
cycle/ATV trail and 12 miles full-sized vehicle route.
