Park Information:
Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations.
There are 23 sites for tent or small trailer use along the main branch of the
Manistee River. Canoe access and good trout fishing. Universally accessible
picnic tables and wells. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable
water from well hand pump.
- Designated Watchable Wildlife Site
Deward Tract is
(7 miles North) undeveloped land along the Upper Manistee
River. Look for frogs, turtles, trout, deer raccoons, kingfishers, wild turkey,
and songbirds along this meandering waterway. Au Sable River (9 miles SE) offers a good chance of seeing bald eagles
all seasons, deer and wild turkey are plentiful, excellent fishing.

Manistee River (on site): Brown/Brook/Rainbow Trout. Lake Margrethe (2.3 miles East): Walleye, Pike, Perch, Smallmouth Bass. Au Sable River (7.3 miles East).
- Canoeing
Manistee River offers good canoeing opportunities. Closest canoe rental in
Grayling (8 miles East).
- Other
Off-Road Vehicle Trails/Routes: Frederic Loop Trail (2.5 miles NE):29 miles of
cycle/ATV trail and 9 miles of full-sized vehicle route.
