Island Lake Campground in Alger County is located approximately 10 miles south of Munising on FH-13, then 2 miles west on FR-2268, at the southwest end of lake.

Island Lake is a 32.5 acre lake where the family camper can enjoy canoeing, fishing, hiking, and camping. Located "off the beaten path," this area receives lighter visitor use than some other campgrounds, so it may offer you more privacy and serenity. Check out this beautiful spot!

Camping
Canoeing and boating are favorite pass-times at Island Lake. At this time, but there are 45 campsites in a nicely wooded quiet area. Many sites overlook the lake. Facilities include fire pits, tables, toilets, and drinking water.

Hiking
Bruno's Run Hiking Trail is less than 5 miles to the south. Additional information on the Bruno's Run Hiking Trail can be obtained from the Munising Ranger District office or the Forest Supervisor's Office in Escanaba.

Fishing
Canoeing and boating are favorite pass-times at Island Lake. At this time, boat access is by carrying in. Boat rentals are within 5 miles of the lake. Island Lake is a panfish lake, including some black bass.

Many other good fishing lakes near the campground include Moccasin Lake, Fish Lake, Baldy Lake, and McKeever Lake.

General Information
Island Lake is a fee area and is operated and maintained by a private concessionaire. Golden Passports are accepted.

Camping supplies, bait, and food, are available either in Wetmore, 8-1/2 miles north on Forest Highway 13, or 3-1/2 miles south on Forest Highway 13.
