Getting There: Alger County - 2.5
miles SW of Forest Lake via M-94 and Campground Road

Park Information:
Phone number indicated above is for the Management Unit. Sites available on a
first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. 23 sites for tent and small
trailer use, 5 of which can accommodate 40-ft vehicle/trailer. Rustic campground
includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump.
- Boat Launch: Water access on
site, on Ackerman Lake and Au Train Lake.
- Fishing: Au Trail River
Basin (on site): Pike. Ackerman Lake (5 miles NE): Rainbow Trout. Au Trail
Lake (7 miles North): Pike, Perch, and Walleye
- Hiking: Au Train Songbird
Trail (7 miles North): Interpretive Trail with songbird tour cassettes
available in the city of Au Train (10 miles North).
- Watchable Wildlife: The Au
Train Songbird Trail passes through uplands and forest, along a stream
corridor, a bog, and a platform overlooking Au Train Lake and surrounding
wetlands. May and June are particularly good for viewing magnolia, black,
white, Connecticut, Nashville, Wilson's, and Bay-breasted warblers, bald
eagles, ospreys, waterfowl, and shorebirds including killdeer, greater
yellowlegs, American bittern, and spotted, least, and solitary sandpipers (7
miles North).
